Fisher, Patterson, Sayler & Smith, LLP is pleased to announce the addition of five attorneys in its new Kansas City, Missouri office. Steven F. Coronado, Paul F. Gordon and Christopher L. Heigele join FPSS as Partners and Mark D. Katz and Jacob D. Bielenberg will serve the Firm as Of Counsel.
Mr. Coronado brings over thirty years of experience as a civil litigator, participating in over 75 jury trials. Steve’s practice focuses on governmental entity liability, employment, retail and hospitality liability, products liability, general personal injury defense, and commercial law. Steve has been actively involved in leadership roles with DRI (member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Product Liability Committee), the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers (President and member of the Board of Directors) and Greater Kansas City Hispanic Bar Association (original member, Board of Directors and President). He is also a member of Best and Super Lawyers.
Mr. Gordon is an experienced civil trial attorney, having tried cases in federal and state courts in Missouri and Kansas. Paul represents clients who are involved in cases arising from claims related to governmental liability, employment discrimination, wrongful death, products liability, breach of contract, trucking accidents, premises liability and construction defect. Paul chairs KCMBA’s Governmental Law Committee, of which he is a founding member. Paul also chairs the Education Specialized Litigation Group of DRI’s Governmental Liability Committee.
Mr. Heigele is a litigator in Missouri and Kansas state and federal courts. Chris defends governmental and law enforcement entities in civil rights law and other liability claims. He also defends corporations and manufacturers in product liability claims. He also practices in the areas of nursing home litigation, construction law, and general commercial liability insurance defense. He is past vice-chair of DRI’s Governmental Liability Committee and has served as chairman of the committee’s annual seminar. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, and the steering committee for the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel.
Mr. Katz defends a broad range of clients in a variety of cases in trial and appeal, from manufacturers and distributors in fire and explosion cases to governmental entities and their employees in constitutional law matters and statutory claims. Mark has taken on leadership roles in local, regional, and national bar associations that focus on litigation and trial. In addition to his nearly 40 years of litigation experience, Mark serves as a mediator to help other attorneys and their clients resolve disputes short of trial.
Mr. Bielenberg has been practicing since 2017. Jake focuses his practice on governmental and quasi-municipal defense, insurance defense, and constitutional litigation. He is a member of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers’ Board of Directors.
