Steve is a partner in Fisher, Patterson, Sayler, and Smith’s Kansas City, Missouri office. A Kansas City native, he is an experienced civil litigator practicing in general personal injury law, governmental entity liability, employment discrimination, retail and hospitality liability, products liability, and commercial law. For more than 20 years, Steve has held an AV rating from national law publication Martindale-Hubbell®—the highest rating granted following a peer review.
Steve’s legal career spans more than 30 years; he has and continues to be involved in local and national legal organizations. Steve served on the Board of Directors of DRI (formerly the Defense Research Institute) and served as chair and vice-chair of DRI’s Products Liability Committee and as co-chair of the Products Liability Specialized Litigation Group on Consumer Goods. He is a member of DRI’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and served as chairman of DRI’s 2002 Annual Meeting. He is actively involved in the Governmental Liability Committee and Fire and Property Specialized Litigation Group. Steve is a founding member and past president of the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Bar Association. Steve served on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers (MODL) and served as MODL’s president from 2013-2014. He is a past chair of The Missouri Bar’s Client Security Fund Committee.
Steve has spoken at seminars on the local and national stage. He has authored countless articles in legal publications and has participated in over 75 jury trials and hundreds of mediations. Steve believes in a team approach and works closely with his clients and their insurers to achieve the most efficient and successful outcome.
